How to Choose a Shaving Cream

If you're using regular old bar soap to shave, you're doing it wrong. Bar soaps (with the exception of special shaving ones) are not formulated for use on the more sensitive skin of your face. Do good by your skin and go buy a nice shaving cream - one that is meant to address the specific problems caused by shaving. You won't regret it. Here are some tips to help you know what to look for.

1. When it comes to shaving, you are facing a lot of potential irritation. To combat this, you want to look for a shaving cream that won't be too hard on your skin. Products that are formulated for sensitive skin are particularly good in this respect.

2. Choose a shaving cream that is going to add moisture to your skin, not take it away. A moisturizing shave cream will leave the skin smoother and softer and help prevent irritation and razor burn.

3. Pay attention to the ingredients in your shaving cream. Try to find products that don't contain many chemicals (which can do more harm than good and dry out skin) and are instead chock full of natural ingredients that are meant to soothe and moisturize skin (eg; aloe, chamomile, glycerin).
